The Gyapa stove cooks food more quickly and requires 50-60% less fuel. This saves families money on fuel costs and improves health by reducing exposure to toxic fumes. It also cuts carbon emissions and protects local forests by reducing the demand for wood fuel.
Working with climate and development experts ClimateCare and the Gold Standard Foundation, we have been able to measure and independently verify the amount of carbon reductions the project has delivered – so far more than 1 million tons [read our press release]. We work exclusively with ClimateCare to sell these carbon credits to businesses and individuals who want to take responsibility for their own unavoidable carbon footprint and support our work. Brands such as Jaguar Land Rover, Barclays Plc, Panasonic and CDC Groups Plc have purchased our VERs.
This provides an income to the project and helps ensure we can continue to deliver benefits to people and the environment.
